CENK SAHIN

ΓΑΛΛΙΚΟ ΚΟΡΝΟ

Cenk Sahin began his musical education in 2001 at the State Conservatory in Izmir with Özcan Göker and Prof. Kerim Gürerk, and later continued at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts of Bilkent University with Cem Akcora. His artistic path led him to Germany, where he studied with world-renowned professors such as Prof. Thomas Hauschild in Leipzig, and Prof. Erich Penzel, Prof. Christian Lampert, and Prof. Christoph Eß in Stuttgart. In 2023, he completed the distinguished “Konzertexamen Exzellenzstudium Solistenklasse”with Prof. Mahir Kalmik at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf — a program dedicated to the highest level of soloist training.

Sahin’s early musical growth was enriched by his participation in prominent youth orchestras, including the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, the Greek-Turkish Youth Orchestra, and the World Youth Symphony Orchestra – Young Euro Classic Berlin.

Throughout his career, Sahin has performed under the direction of some of the world’s most celebrated conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Iván Fischer, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Christoph Eschenbach, Tugan Sokhiev, Kent Nagano, and Jonathan Nott, with renowned orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Berlin, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, SWR Symphonieorchester, DSO Berlin, Bamberger Symphoniker, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Oper Frankfurt, and Oper Hamburg.

Beyond his orchestral work, Sahin is active as a chamber musician and educator. He has performed at acclaimed international festivals such as the Baden-Baden Musik Festival, the Chios Music Festival, the Tuscany Music Festival, and the prestigious Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival. He is a long-standing member of the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin and a guest member of German Hornsound. As an educator, he has led masterclasses at institutions and festivals including the Carnaval du Cor, İzmir State Conservatory, Assos Horn Days, Beijing Central Conservatory, and Kunst Universität Graz.

Since the 2011–2012 season, and following a season with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Sahin has held the positions of Principal&Co-Principal Horn with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin.
